There is so  few shares of any size for  sale....   any buyer has to pay up  to  get  shares....

So you are saying by not leaving a Gap in the morning, you anticipate the stock to continue to jump up tomorrow?
Comment by fdfd12 on May 19, 2016 3:51pm
If it closes at $41.20, then it can open up tomorrow at $41.67 and still not leave a gap since $41.67 is the high of today. Let me tell you, it is better to close at $41.20 than the top. If it closes at let's say $42, then tomrrow it will open at $42.50 or higher and then come down to clsoe the gap and we don't know all that downward momentum, how low it will go. You remember a few days ...more

Why does a gap have to be filled though? What's the significance of it?

The ALGOS which trade stocks are programmed in a way not to leave gaps if they can. IF there is a takout of a stock, that is different. Gap will be left, of course. But in general, GAPS get closed like the one we saw 2 days ago at the open. It got closed by noon.
