It could be someone shorting as well and buying protection.

There's really nothing that can be accurately deduced from option activity. Taking a look at August call activity today, my guess would be that someone bought back 264 July 25 calls they had previously sold and rolled that down and out to August, selling 164 August 20 calls. It's basically a break-even trade, and perhaps astute, taking advantage of today's rally, capturing a greater ...more
