“Party’s Over Kid” - Mr. Samir Manji

What is going on in Cooper's head - is he highly incentivized to release strong earnings and communicate a very bullish outlook? This would defensively push up the price for Samir/Artis/Sandpiper.

How do you square the above with the fact that he put out a negative PR to dismiss "rumors" rather than provide a brief operational update and/or sales update (something along the lines of - "assets continued to be marketed and there is strong market interest")... then immediately proceeded to buy ~200k units at a relatively high price compared to what Artis has paid for units. Perhaps he is incentivized to release a negative outlook (the "Cooper Special")? Perhaps Cooper and Samir are not fighting and a low unit price is optimal from Cooper's perspective?

My understanding of Samir is that he is an activist investor through and through. As a large investor here with meaningful skin in the game -- it's hard for me to see how he doesn't make his voice heard at this point. He sees the chart as well as his fellow investors...

Welcome back Frankie, missing you on the AX.UN forum.  I do think Samir will go activist, but it needs to be predicated on having some sort of different strategy than Cooper to unlock value.   Not just for the sake of it.  Or maybe he beleives cooper team is legimitely out of favor with investors and getting a lower unit price.  we shall see

i don't think they are fighting - at least not yet. cooper has 3 buildings for sale, he made it public. he's also done a SIB, a reverse split and some buying back. i assume manji wants him to sell assets to private market an do more buying back. my guess is deals are close as bids started to get collected a few months ago. let's see what happens next!

Can't wait to see what happens lol. I got my popcorn ready for next week - Samir will certainly be asked a question or two regarding Dream Office, confirmation that he is divesting from FCR, whether Artis is investing in public securities other than Dream and FCR, etc... should be very interesting. Potentially very impactful to Dream Office, and may ripple as far as Allied and other office ...more
