DBM Volatility

Some rather unusual trading today in this one. It goes up 12 or 13 pennies as it comes up to ex div date , then today in an up market drops 10 cents. Missing that 14 cent div on Wednesday close. As a new shareholder , with no news , l am at loss to understand this selling.A head scratcher. I will ask Reddeer as a doyen of SH for over two decades and a shareholder , if he would kindly share his thoughts on this board. I am positive there is more than just me who would be interested in any comments he chooses to share. .

Not interested in hearing from reddeer. It's really quite simple. Doman's earning have dropped 50%, 42% and 64% from 1st Q 2022 to 4th Q 2022... or commulitively from 48 cents per share to 6 cents per share (a drop of 87.5. percent).  Lumber futures made it above $400 for a week but are now back in $300s. It's very likely that 1st Q will not be much better than 4th Q. It's ...more

Stocker , while l usually agree with your views , in this case not prepared to listen to Red is a mistake in in my view.nothing related to DBM in fundamentals have changed in the past week but the stock is down like 5% or more post ex dividend. Does that make any sense to you at all. .I will reiterate , l would appreciate Reds comments as l have checked into him , he has been successful in good ...more

CountryBoy69 When I first invested in Doman (I think it was a few mths before the name change), I checked out their board on Stockhouse only to find it had been hijacked by a group of trolls who constantly posted useless info. Reddeer came up in many of these posts. Can't recall if he was posting back then under RedDeer or one of his aliases .. but if he did, it was garbage. I eventually put ...more

DBM is not just a commodity trade though. Its product list are all value added and it supplies retail chains. I thought I knew a lot about this company but during a conference call I learned that not only do they supply retail outlets that they own but also large international companies like Home Depot. For guidance on the future I watch those companies as much as DBM. As for over priced I ...more

Actually I agree with most of your comments. Doman has a great dividend & solid Management. In good times like 2021 when lumber prices were high (average futures of $1,263 wth a high over $1,700) they had record earnings. Problem is that I wouldn't consider these good times. In 4th Q 2022 (when average futures were about $420), they only managed earnings of 5 cents per share. I also had ...more
