Mixed bag in housing starts
CMHC reports the annual pace of housing starts in March declined 7% compared with February. Year-over-year figures, actual housing starts in large urban centres were up 16%. Housing starts continue to trend "at a solid pace," even with the decline in March but further decreases to the number of starts are likely in the months to come. https://www.stockwatch.com/News/Item/Z-C!TD-3537396/C/TD

Don, I think the first drop in interest rates is going to be a kick-start for housing starts in Canada and Canada appears to be the site where the first rate cut will take place. Our U.S. side is going to take longer but that too should happen, and when it does it will be a boost to Doman's activities south of the border.
