Small-caps to Watch

Our roundup of Canadian small-caps of between $100-million and $3-billion in market capitalization making news

dentalcorp Holdings Ltd.  announced that its board had formed a special committee of non-executive, independent directors to review strategic alternatives that may be available to the company to unlock shareholder value.

“Our management team is fully aligned with the board’s decision to explore options to maximize shareholder value, including in response to unsolicited expressions of interest that have been received,” said Graham Rosenberg, CEO and board chair.

juicy takeover target at $9. I will be a buyer at $5.50 this week based on this presumption.

Most certainly  they are receiving unsolicited inquiries!  Great space with strong margins!  Would not expect 52 week highs, but I will be happy with 10-12.

123 and DCC bought small DSo for 2X the billing. So no matter what the people on this board tell you, DCC worths more than 2B in MC. This is a stable business. Vet office are sold for 20X EBITDA. 12-14$ is a floor for DCC witht the billing and 250M EBITDA+ US private equity looks at the price right now and they laugh. They all wants to buy DCC for 1B, but it wont happens.

anyone interested in this still needs to look under the hood. they have a ton of debt and for some bizarre reason locked in at a super high interest rate. $10 tops.

Admit it, doc, you missed the boat by getting too greedy looking for $5 a share. Now, you're probably too proud to buy in and enjoy the ride up that's only just started.

And now he should pray that SP will go down again. BUT i said many times and i know this market by heart. Multiple are much higher than other sector and DCC is a no brainer at this price even if you hate them. They have a great back office tech and a BOD that knows how to management healthcare business. PE wants to be in this space.  should continue to trend higher in 2023.  he ...more

I had dinner on Saturday with my brother-in-law who has a dental practice north of Toronto.  His take was very interesting - he hates the company with a passion as he feels they are the antithesis of what he aims to provide - customer-centric service.  He thinks they are over-paying for practices and it will eventually come to a point where they will run out of practices willing to be ...more

No disrespect to your Brother in law, but being a dentist does not equate to being a good buinses person.

Absolutely!  What I found more interesting was his take on the company.  I think he may be typical amongst dentists, but many won't be able to resistant taking the cash when the time comes.

Well I think there is certainly dentist out there like your Brother in law, but many (1000's) will certainly be bought by Dental Corp or other private funds.  At the multiples being paid,  most young dentist cannot competer. I personally know 3 dentist who have been bought by Dental Corp.
