Boreas7 is correct

Despite the awesome dinamics of Silver we are held to the political legacy of the Progressive ALMO and his protege Claudia. Progressives claim to be scientist but refuse it when it flies in the face of their policies (ie climate change). Biden shuts down pipeline and fracking and then drains national petroleum reserves. Defies logic. Canada US and Mexico are all currently progressive governments that defy logic and hurt commerce.

When you have a mineral deposit who best determines its form of extraction from the earth. A geologist NOT a politician.

Make no doubt Claudia wins and another Profressive is in power. This will be extremely negative to mining in Mexico.

Especially for Copper.

Boreas7 is correct and on Sunday 2 June we will have a clearer picture most commerce and investment is currently on hold.

Anyone on this board familiar with the forecast of this election.  Will it be a close one?
Comment by Boreas7 on May 29, 2024 9:07pm
Nope. Unless Maynez and Galvez team up.

Does anyone know who is favoured to win the election? They must conduct polls in Mexico. If the progressives win and continue the ban on open pit mining doesn't that mean Discovery is worthless? It doesn't matter if you have a mineral deposit if it can't be mined.By the way, i live in Mazatlan,Mexico and ALMO is super popular here.He gave away plenty of free stuff. All my regular taxi ...more

Sheinbaum is the favourite, but she's an environmentalist. Which means she needs silver...which means she needs DSV.  ;-)

All things considered it looks as if Sheinbaum will probably win. Mexico presidential race has clear favorite, but pollsters say turnout key | Reuters

Sheinbaum wants to halt open-pit mining concessions altogether and ban fracking.   The above is a quote from a news outlet.  If Sheinbaum is the favourite, are people not worried about this.  I have heard many people on here say the ban will never happen ???

A ban on open pit mining is a distinct possibility.Look at the leftist governments in the US and Canada. These people are fanatics and don't care about economic consequences. Why would Mexican leftists be any different?People who claim there won't be a ban on open pit mining have their heads in the sand.If the leftists win the election, and it appears they will win, that will embolden them to ...more

Dimitri I agree. Progressive govts are being overthrown but mexicos outgrowing president was very charismatic and the destructive nature of progressive properties hasn't taken hold. I predict it will be a very close race. I hope Claudia loses. If she wins.... she won a Nobel prize with Al Gore for climate change so she's as progressive as the come. She support ALMOs train destroying ...more

Despite a mining legal framework that hurts the private sector and that will remain in place for some time, the mining engineers, metallurgists and geologists association (AIMMGM) is optimistic about the new government that takes office in October, even if it's led by the current ruling Morena party. Elections are slated for June 2, with former Mexico City mayor and ruling Morena party ...more
