Weekend Thoughts
Extractivism to Sustainabilty. It applies to the entire geopolitical and economic sphere. In the past neoliberal / colonial powers with resources and capital would extract resources and wealth from the colony with the lion share of that wealth exported. Mining has significantly improved over the years in its contribution both to the local economy and development as well as taxes to the colony /sovereign state. Mining in Mexico unjustly suffers from a late 1900's image of the old mining ways. Sustainability regardless of the drive to resources required by green energy will require extractiveness of some form. This must be determined by both the local populations as well as the sovereign state to a level that respects their way of life and ability to determine if the development is something they actually want. It should be a collective and democratic decision. I believe Discovery Silvers delivers a win-win for both the necessary extraction of resources and wealth both for the private shareholder investors as well as the local community and state. In my opinion, the view of mining will be updated in the minds of many in the Mexico leadership to once again become an important part of Mexican culture and business.
