Back to our regularly scheduled program

A recent article on Cytosorbents stated:

"Following the heavy fall in price, Cytosorbents may be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 1.4x, considering almost half of all companies in the Medical Equipment industry in the United States have P/S ratios greater than 3.3x and even P/S higher than 8x aren't out of the ordinary"

Here's the math on what a Spectral SP would be using these quoted multiples and assuming just 40% penetration of their $2B USD target market ( low IMO)
Figures are in CAD $ at 1.35 FX and assume 350 M shares o/s

Multiple P/S.    Projected SP (CAD)

1.4 X                   $4.32

3.3 X.                  $10.18

8 X                    $ 24.68

Hope this article is right about multiples - especially since this is an almost identical device  - but only one that is on the verge of proving things out to the FDA

Jus sayin

The ignore button works wonders. Should have used it much earlier on the tree guy  !  Now down to just putting up with the HOBBS  where did Hmmmmm go BTW? He was misguided and prone to bad math, but at least he was somewhat coherent.  Anyway... Regarding P/S and EBITDA multiples, I wonder if a price could be worked out between two parties based on a reasonable ...more

My usual ratio with regular tech companies that I have owned or am looking at is usually  on avg. p/s of 3 x .  So please give me $ 10 and you can have my shares..  No questions asked.. All will be forgiven and that willl also be proof positive that there is a God..  :)
Comment by Revten on Jan 05, 2024 8:32am
MM these Ratios and Calculations are absolutely realistic and should all the ducks line up, as they should, we will see $7.00-10.00 A Share.  Oh and there are many things that are uncertain in life including what the Ultimate Outcome of Spectral Medical's Share Price....BUT ONE THING that I Am CERTAIN of is that THERE IS A GOD! Thx for that important & wise reminder/devotional good Rev . It's why I have decided that nothing good can come from ongoing " discussions" with one of our misguided friends in particular.  I hope that somehow he is able to forgive himself for past mistakes and eventually embrace the healing process.  But the rest of us must move on in search of truth & ...more

I hear ya.l Although 3X as a Price to Sales Ratio still seems a bit llight to me considering : 1.  CTSO once was trading well over 10X on a P/S ratio basis when people actually thought that it worked ( ie before latest study results) 2. PMX would be the first new FDA approved treatment for ESS (assuming confirmed in 3b) in decades - with exclusivity and protections.  In ...more

Nothing on Dimi? Pumped the Fudge out of that one, just a reminder to anyone thinking of entering the timeless vaccum called being a Spectral investor.
Comment by ChesterLives on Jan 06, 2024 12:49pm
I don't think it is pumping to repeat what the company and independent investigators have said: There is a 100% probability of PMX success at 90 patients, as agreed to by the FDA. That is a fact, that is not pumping.
Comment by mercedesman on Jan 06, 2024 3:33pm
Yes ... but.., O would prefer to convince everyone that there is another 24 months + wait before anything happens  Of course we know that will not be the case with PMX for the reasons you have pointed out.  perhaps in 24 months the DIMI opportunity can be resurrected. Some great innovations (e.g.  portability, ease of use, connectivity, etc)  - that appears to be ahead ...more

Nov 10 2022  48 patients enrolled. Dec 14 2023  81 patients enrolled. 33 patients enrolled in the past 13 months. 2.54 patients per month. 150 minus the 81 patients enrolled = 69 patients needed to complete the Tigris trial. 69 divided 2.54 = 27 months. That is why investors who actually look at real numbers see 2+ years ahead. It's also why you are working so hard to try and ...more

More math trickery from the HOBBS leader  here's just some of the ways where he went wrong in his analysis : 1. conveniently selects the slow period before the Investigator meeting in May when Tigris got a major shot in the arm   2. conveniently leaves out the fact that a new CRO was put in place in the summer of 2023 3. conveniently leaves out the fact that several new ...more

I "convieniently" used the last update of 2022 to the last update of 2023. But you say the last 6 months tells a different story. So lets look.. June 20, 2023  64 patients enrolled. Dec 14, 2023  81 patients enrolled 17 patients in 6 months = 2.8 per month 69 divided by 2.8 =   24.6 months Still 2+ years..  What is your excuse with those numbers?  Are ...more

Nice try. You still need to convert your numbers to enrollment per site per month.... including recently added and pending sites. The failure to recognize  an increasing number of sites over time renders your "math" useless ( somewhat like your skills as a poster)   To simplify things for yourself, you may prefer to use the timelines provided by JK the CMO of Spectral ...more

I believe that statistical certainty has already been met. They said as much in and around the Critical Care article.   So what is left to bash? Slow enrollment to date and occasionally Dr. Kellum's liking for donuts.   They are outta gas man!

The next pause is in the low to mid sixties. You guys can argue about the minutiae all you want but when a major analysis about the results is due imminently, excitement always ensues. That's been a truism about biotechs for decades. Invest it or trade it how ever you want, but excitement will always predicate a major look at the numbers.

My prediction is...once 90 test participants are reached, if there is not a serious possibility that in the following three to six months that the test will be stopped, or if Baxter doesn't approach Spectral management with talk about Baxter buyig Spectral, that at the next General Shareholder meeting in June, the Board will once again ask shareholders to approve a 1 : 10 reverse stock split ...more

Makes a lot of sense to me as a possible outcome!  MM
Comment by jonnieboy on Jan 06, 2024 4:17pm
In case you missed it The probability of a certain event occurring depends on how many possible outcomes the event has. If an event has only one possible outcome, the probability for this outcome is always 1 (or 100 percent). If there is more than one possible outcome, however, this changes. A simple example is the coin toss
Comment by mercedesman on Jan 07, 2024 11:46am
Intrigued by this statement  Trials are always binary ( Yes or No, excluding the odd maybe of course)  A coin toss always come with roughly 50/50 odds.  0.50 + 0.50 = 1.00 Some might argue that in the case of this 3b Trial, that by all indications " is exceeding expectations", the odds of a positive outcome are far from 50/50. Perhaps 95%/5% or even higher. Of ...more

Well written, good for you reminding investors a 100 % proabilty is not a guaranteed outcome. I agree the odds of a positve result are in are favor but I would not bet the farm on it. BIOMS was pretty much in the bag until it wasn"t ............
Comment by MMABStrader on Jan 09, 2024 12:29am
Johnnieboy... there's one big difference between the BioMS and Spectral tests. The BioMS test was double blinded and no one within BioMS supposedly knew what the test results were while the test was being run. On the other hand, the Spectral test is open label so senior management is getting a peek at a lot of test data during the test. When Dr Kellum and Seto use phrases indicating a 95 ...more
