DEMAND FOR RESIDENTIAL COULD BE WAY BIGGER THAN FOR CARS

And electric vehicles are not the only trick Tesla has up its sleeve — Musk commented that Tesla will unveil a home-use battery “fairly soon,” which could also be exciting for lithium investors. The chairman estimates that the battery will be unveiled in the next month or two and thinks that production will probably start up within the next six months. Certainly, investors will be watching formore details from Tesla going forward in 2015.

For Lee, that could have much more of an effect on demand over the longer term than the electric vehicle side of things, especially given the relative size of both markets. “The size is terms of gigawatt storage is magnitudes greater than the gigawatts that would ever be stored for EV’s,” he pointed out.

My choice to the residential battery is NO. Why do you need a residential battery if you live in a big city? I am sure to would like to have an electric car. If you live remotely, you may need both residential solar and battery. JMO, this is just a hype. tiger

If a residential  battery will save people money in the long term , then why would this not work ?

It's just my thought, and not much research on my part. My common sense tells me that most people live in a big city, so no problem with electricity, unless you live in a remote areas, have your wind farm or solar farm, and need to store your power with your batteries. So for most of people, it is unrealistic, for some people, less than 0.1% of polulation, it may be yes. JMO. tiger
