Insurrection? What insurrection?
It looks like the GOP are going to stick their heads in the sand once again in a couple of weeks when the Trump impeachment trial hits the Senate.

"The chances of getting a conviction are virtually nil," said Sen. Roger Wicker, a Mississippi Republican.
"I don't know what the vote will be but I think the chance of two-thirds is nil," said Sen. John Cornyn, a Texas Republican and member of his party's leadership who called the Democratic push to begin the trial "vindictive."
"From listening to the dynamic -- and everything to this point -- it's going to be tough to get even a handful," said Sen. Mike Braun, an Indiana Republican, referring to possible GOP defectors. "I think so many are getting confused by the fact that we're doing this - and everybody has views that it's kind of a constitutional concern."
The GOP arguments are now coming into sharper focus, claiming the proceedings are unconstitutional to try a former President and contending that the trial is moving on too short of a timeframe to give due process to Trump, claims that Democrats resoundingly reject.

Depending upon one's point of view, the concept of "American democracy" is either completely broken, or working to perfection.
The reality that America is resoundingly fractured by irreconcilable differences along politcal, economic, and racial lines is a clear indication that democracy in America is broken.
The fact that a lunatic can say and do whatever he wants and be protected by a sculpted interpretation of the constitiution along political lines by power hungry representives pretending to serve the people surely invalidates the vision of the writers of the constitution.
Or maybe the reality that anyone can say or do whatever they want in America as long as they have enough friends to support their actions means the constitution is working as it should be.
How can anyone possibly trust the USA at this point in time?
America's fall from grace is about to reach its nadir in the coming weeks as politics will stoop to the lowest of the low.
Russia and China have been pounding the rock (Raptor's fan here) waiting for this moment. By the end of February, it looks like their patience and effort will be rewarded.
How long can it be before the world acknowledges the total destruction of the American Dream and demand an end to the use of the US dollar as the reserve currency of the world.
Like Buffet, I have always believed that America would pull through the tough times and come out the other side with a smile.
I have BIG respect for Fantome's knowledge and experience in terms of his awareness and interpretation of events and their potential effects on the market. However, I have never shared Fantome's depth of concern for caution. While I agree 100% with Fantome's assertion that the piper inevitably has to be paid, I have always believed Rob Schneider's film mantra that "You can do it" America.
However, it is impossible at this point in time to disagree with Jeff Daniel's famous "The Newsroom" rant that "America is not the greatest country in the world anymore".
Daniel's followed up his incendiary rant with "but it could be". Today, I'm not so sure.
