The Paris Agreement has NO chance of success
When Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny returned to Russia, he was detained and the judge sitting in the case ordered his detention for 30 days. That is how things work in Russia.
Today, 15,000 demonstrators gathered in Pushkin Square in Moscow in -50 degree temperatures to voice their displeaure.
What happened?
3,000 were arrested and authoriites used batons on protestors.
Russia's economy depends almost entirely on oil and gas exports.
Putin ingrained himself into the oligarchy through brute force and has been running Russia with an iron fist ever since.
Saturday's protest and show of police brutality provide just another example that Putin and his band of thugs will continue to do whatever serves them. And what serves them is selling O&G to China and India as they build their infrastructures. Paris be damned!
Biden can support the Paris Agreement until he is red, white, and blue in the face but it isn't going to make a meaningful difference in a world where American influence is crumbling.
Europe is losing grip faster than the USA. Canada does what the US tells it to do as we are run by a jellyfish.
When America wakes up from its fantasy "green" dream, oil will continue to course through its veins. By that time, the USA likely won't be able to control anyone in the world other than Canada and Mexico who both produce heavy oil.
Biden's shutdown of KXL was simply a political check mark that won't change anything as TMX and ENB's Mainline can and will handle everything Canada can produce for as long as needed.

Don't forget the ME. They can supply the US and Canada as well. Oh yeah, almost forgot about Libya and Venezuela. Other than that, good post.

Maybe, but sometimes it is not about achieving the goal and just plain reaching for it. The Paris Agreement certainly had no chance without the USA's cooperation. The Russians and Chinese were always going to do whatever they wanted to do. One thing is for sure, The Paris Agreement has a better chance of succeeding than it did 5 days ago.
