ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – The effort by two Ojibwe bands to stop the construction of Enbridge Energy’s Line 3 replacement pipeline has been denied by the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
The Red Lake Band of Chippewa and the White Earth Band of Ojibwe had asked the appeals court to suspend state approval of the $2.6-billion project and stop the construction. Enbridge told the court there was no legitimate basis for the filing.
Construction started in early December and is expected to be complete by the end of September.
