Earnings Friday May 6 Before Market Open

Any Ideas on what we might see?

Will we be surprised or just steady eddy ENB posting predictably good results and then it trades sideways for a while?

Personally I believe strong oil demand will make this a strong holding for the future with people generally holding it for the dividend.  It could trend higher on just the whiff of good news which, with ENB, could come in many forms.

Go Enbridge! ;-)

Last earnings Feb 11th, ENB closed at 55.56, up a buck from the day before.  HOWEVER, after the ex div date on Feb 14th, ENB closed at 52.79, and then 52.61 on Feb 15th.  ENB never went back above 53 until Feb 24th. "IF", and that's a big "IF",  past performance is any indication, decent earnings ( how can they be anything but decent ) on Friday could bump ...more

That has certainly been my experience over the last six months with my O & G and those I follow.  Just look at the ridiculous lack of confidence when the crude price vacillates between $105 and $100.  People out of their minds when it rises to $90 and disappointed when it falls to $100?  Nuts!  From that perspective it's stupid when the price goes up at all on earnings.

Earnings will be flat and uneventful IMO. The company is not forward thinking, and needs to divest the green energy scams like SU did. This stock will float around in the 50s until they reduce their debt considerably or make meaningful acquisitions. 50s is where it will hang out for the next year, especially after ex div.

In the meantime we get a 6.2% dividend. I'm all over that.

So my post Monday guessing the share price would rise a buck to a buck fiddy after earnings has come to fruition. Will my second guess of a two to two fiddy DROP after ex div also pan out ?  Time will tell.  Place your bets, spin the wheel. So are you swinging the div?  Are you going to realize a cap gain on all of your previous gains to this point only to reinvest it all again on the dip after earnings and put your now newly unpaid tax capital on the line in the hopes that ENB will rise from the dip ashes and not plummet to lower support levels in the summer shoulder season? Or are you just going to be sensible and ride the ...more

QUIN - One must ponder just how high old Enbridge can go.  We have a war in Ukraine, everyone hates Russian oil, the price of gas in Ontario is soon to be 2 bucks a liter, and yet Enbridge appears to have topped out at Fiddy nine oh nine.   Like, that's it ?  My point being, what's the top price ?  It can't go up forever, there has to be a ceiling. Is that ...more

Well max demand is max demand and full pipes are full. We really can't sugar coat the fact that the share price can't grow without growth. DId they grow? EPS grew 1%, meh.  DCF grew 10% thats pretty good considering they are only giving out 3% more per year in dividends.  Of course there is that NCIB if they choose to use it.  Anyway the divvy appears safe. QUIN - All valid points for sure, and yeah, i did expect my BNS to perform better.  I always thought the higher the interest rates, the more money banks made and the more money they made, the higher their shares would go. Conversley, companies with a lot of debt like Enbridge, would feel more of a squeeze with higher interest rates as it would cost them more to carry their debt. But what do i ...more

As I mentioned on Monday May 2nd : "if past performance is any indication, decent earnings ( how can they be anything but decent ) on Friday could bump the share price up a buck or a buck fiddy, followed by a two or two fiddy drop in the following days." Well ENB enjoyed the "buck or buck fiddy" pop after earnings, fast forward to today, Monday May 9th, and ENB closes ...more

Yeah that puts the yield back above 6%.  I wonder if there will be any kind of rally before the ex-div? It is tough to pull a better yield without getting too speculative. I guess it will depend on how scared the market gets. I am feeling pretty safe with my divvy and my ENB. Go Enbridge! ;-)

Could be worse, you could be a VET bag holder.  Might be a few of those shareholders today heading to Home Depot for some nylon rope strong enough to support their weight from the garage rafters... LOL. I am a VET bagholder although still in the green at this shareprice level.  I don't think VET shareholders are too worried.  Oil is still over $100 a barrel, North American NG is $7/mmbtus and European NG is $95/GJ.  VET is another O&G E&P that is printing money only they are doing it all over the world including Europe.  They report earnings on Thusday and I ...more

World wide recession on the horizon, local news talking about everyone staying home this summer because they can't affor a liter of petrol. Interesting times. Quin wrote:"LOL. I know it is early days yet but did you say up a buck fiddy after ex-divvy? Don't forget they already took off the $.86 for the div yesterday too. It is trading weird but you can't complain about up after ex-div. Go Enbridge! ;-)
Comment by FiddyFiddyOddzz on May 13, 2022 1:23pm
The TSX is up over 400, that might have a lot to do with it - hell, even $hitty old BNS is up today, imagine that ! Ha double whammy for us.  It also needs to claw back from a 15% pullback.  Just shows they all do it.  Hopefully BNS does another add to the divy. Q2 is tradtionally when they do even though they already upped it this year I hear analysts predicting more. BNS however did not just come off its ex-div day and roll its divy into its payables like ENB. Go Enbridge! ;-)

Quinty I believe you will see a beat on both revenue and EPS. My guess EPS will be between 88 and 92 cents. DCF or FCF will likely increase over Q1 2021to somewhere between 460 to 480 million. Boy just stuck my neck out. IMO share price is reflecting the worry concerning inflation and as always the market is oversold (my opinion) my head is ready to be chopped off.
Comment by Quintessential1 on May 02, 2022 6:35pm
Yeah, I think youre right about the share price and inflation worries that's why I think it will trade sideways and consolidate until it can prove it is worth a higher valuation. If your predictions on revenue and EPS come true then this may happen sooner than later and I know analysts have pegged the share price targets 10-20% higher than where they are now. All I can say is I have never ...more
