Had that incident occurred in Can-Er-DUH, the police would have be fired, and the protestors would have been supplied with a mobile Tim Horton's truck. AUTO - Although they appear to be slow learners, I think the riff-raff got the message with rubber bullets being deployed. Certainly sounds to me that you would have been happier with the police not doing anything at all.
