About three weeks ago, the volume of open interest of ENB Puts expiring Dec 20 shot up by a factor of 10x the normal volume (about 2 million shares worth). Lo and behold, the ENB share price headed straight down.
Seeing the ENB/ENS share price drop for teb straight days was not a surprise. The pros orchestrated a slow drop in the ENB share price until the last hour of trading on Wednesday Dec 18th when they smacked the bids. Then they pounded the bids again Thursday morning on Dec 19th at which time they closed their positions.
Nothing illegal. They just picked up a couple of dollars per share on 2 million shares by bullying the market.
What can you do about it? Nothing other than watching for the signs that the market gives us and using the opportunities provided to buy the dips. If you look back at the daily closing prices over the years, you see the same pattern over and over again.
If you want to investigate this further, you can start by watching the ENB option chain which you can see here: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/ENB/options/
