Pro-Russian authorities in the town of Energodar, located in the Zaporiyia region and home to the eponymous nuclear power plant, have warned on Friday of a series of new attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the facility.
According to the military-civilian administration, as a result of the offensive, two electricity transmission lines "necessary for power supply and safe operation" of the nuclear power plant had to be cut.
The authorities have informed through a statement on their Telegram social network channel that they are taking all necessary measures to normalize the operation of the plant as soon as possible.
The Russian side believes that the Ukrainian Army has deliberately attacked power lines on the territory near the Zaporiyia plant with the intention of creating a threat to the population of the area.
In early March, the Russian Army seized the facilities of the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant, one of the largest in Europe, which in the early stages of the war was already the scene of intense clashes.
