Thinking laterally

With MWS approaching operational maturity and the debt repayment due next year it may make sense to sell MWS. But only for a good price. This would allow management to concentrate on EZ, pay off the debt  holders and have a lot of cash leftover. PI mentioned  $500m.

On another point, I've made my feelings known to management about  a name change. FIU should be out there as a gold company not being identified with uranium, when it is such a small part of the company's portfolio.

Management has to seize the moment and act decisively.

Guys come on,500 million for MWS?   how much was pumped into it to start with? and how much will we get out of it over the long haul? These tailings represent in excess of 332 million tonnes of measured and indicated mineral resources and 16.5 million tonnes of inferred resources, of which 322 million are mineable reserves estimated to contain 2.9 million ounces of gold and 55 million ...more

500 mil in a fire sale. Of course its worth more, especially with completion test pass. My point was at worst case of 500 it covers all debt and present mcap. I added more UUU and URA today. Uranium is here to stay. This is a gold play, trading like a Uranium play thanks to management that doesnt listen to shareholders. .50 today?

Okay  not pumping or defending managemnt  but how do we know they aren;t doing things behind the scenes to change the company name and structure to reflect it's gold  mining. I really don;t think it takes a swipe of a pen to change the name of a company, heck there will be major repercussions all along the way I think. As one simple example,  FIU is, if I'm not ...more

Okay, 1billion, 1.5 billion. There must be a number where it's better to take the cash and walk away. Shareholder value is what it's all about.

some history: gold wheaton paid $150M for 25% of MWS to get it built. Then, Franco Nevada bought Gold Wheaton $830M, whose value was determined by gold stream coming from MWS (25% or 30k oz), Ezulwini (7% or an increasing 3.5k oz to 20k+ oz, let's say it averages ~13k), and FNX/QUX (50% or ~40k oz). 30+15+40 = 83k oz.Franco Nevada paid $830M for ~83k oz annual production, less production cost ...more

Thank you Idunnobut for doing the arithmetic and calculating a price. When I raised this topic it was intended to focus attention on the two diverse parts of Firs Uranium. EZ is a traditional deep gold mine in the early stages. MWS is a re-processing business that is up and running and nearing maximum output. I believe that it might be sensible to sell the MWS business for lets say 1 - 1 ...more

My point was that the market had already set a price for this mine. Some other thoughts have come to mind regarding some of the topics here:FIU Notes would be part of any sale of MWS assets, and the original MWS $150 financing deal with Gold Wheaton would certainly have considered the possibility of a sale. I think your idea, while it might seem like a good idea, will simply not happen for another ...more

Idunnobut,Once again thank you for taking the time to give this idea a good brainstorm. It would seem that management is not that free to make sweeping changes to the company and we're back to the one issue that won't go away. They must get a profit out of Ezulwini!

uranicynic,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,remember Ezulwini over the 40 years of production before FIU took over,,produced an annual average of 300,000 ounce. FIU has a ramp up production target of 279,000 ounces per year,,,in addition to the MWS production of 120,000 ounces.  I assume most readers on this board are unaware of the total target level for the entire operation,,,,,,,,,,,,>>>>> ...more

If and when this thing starts producing 400K ounces, this stock will already be $4 at that time. Right now and for the foreseeable future we are looking at 200-220K ounces. Still a very good produciton number but a far cry from 400KIf we get through next June with the a good chunk of free cash flow, we are going to see significant new highs. Until then 400K and $9.50 are a pipe dream.FIU looks to ...more

,,,,just noting fact from fiction on this play,,,, shootforthemoon,,,,,,,,,,,I don't know of too many plays out there that have zero debt and producing 200K+ ounces,,,,,most junior start ups I know are in debt and some can't find moneys to do squat!!!,,,,,,Ezulwini is in ramp up mode,,,,,,it intends to hit the higher production numbers to be profitable. The MWS operation is printing money, ...more
