The only thing i have seen, is the ability for Graphene and its related to cathode enhancment resulting lighter weight and  reduce charging times,,, if anything new comes into the battery mix i would bet on that before Solid state from what i have read,,, Cobalt is here to stay for up to 10 years ish ,,, just my 2 cents. cheers

What your reading is what some of the best battery people / minds in the world are saying and I totally agree with you.  There are and will be different types of batteries and they will eventually find there place but in autos and most other mass or other storage issues, tried and tested cobalt will remain and it may be a lot longer than ten years. we are sitting good, simple ...more

We are already finding out that LFP has some major performance and capacity issues in vehicles that are inherent in the LFP chemistry cell imbalance and soc imbalance issues https://insideevs.com/news/458229/tesla-skipped-testing-lfp-model-3-china/ They just started shipping LFP Teslas in Europe so with cold weather these issues will be exposed in short order. https://insideevs.com/news/458229 ...more
