The grid does not distinguish between green, brown, yellow or black power.  The production is distributed according to demand, and clearly the distribution system failed.  There are issues wind, solar, biofuel, and nat gas all introduce.  Wind and solar are intermitent, and need support.  Biofuels and nat gas all release water and CO2 during normal operations.
