GM to form new joint venture to produce crucial materials for EV

  • GM on Wednesday said it has signed a non-binding term sheet to create the joint venture with South Korea-based Pocso Chemical.
  • The companies plan to open a new North American facility to process critical battery materials known as Cathode Active Material in 2024.
  • GM and other automakers are scrambling to insource and onshore supply chains for electric vehicle batteries to reduce costs and lower risks of supply chain disruptions.

Jim can elaborate on FT and Posco relationship - as i understand we are the only permited primary cobalt mine site in NA  - if any one is concerned about where thier cobal comes from we will be front and centre  Good post

Fortune (RG) has an excellent relationship with Posco.  Posco was the partner that stepped up to partner in the MT Klappan coal project.  Robin had many meetings in South Korea and site visits with them in BC .    Pretty sure they were introduced by the South Korean Gov't.  That's a big deal.   One has to earn the respect of the Gov't there before they ...more
