Large scale recycling of batteries is still many years (if not decades) down the road - sounds like mining will be a primary means of sourcing battery metals for a long time.

And then recycling.  One would need a facility that could take the components, and reprocess the nickel, cobalt, lithium, graphite and electrolite safely and in an environmentally friendly way.  The product of such a facility would be very much be the products FT refinery is likely to produce, or can produce.

I have to say I never realized this second life electric vehicle battery market / potential existed. The impact of it seems to make EV battery manufacturers much more reliant on mined battery minerals for longer than one would think pushing the recycled battery minerals market (as a primary circular source) further into the future. Another point that makes the NICO deposit that much more ...more

But todays announcement from Mercedes on their longer range trucks uses LIP batteries.  Lots of advances going on now.
