BANKS

Have all been saying that there 4rth quarter is going to be the best quarter of the year.. stop and listen to that again...  The newly elected president will remove a lot of regulations on banks. Intrest rates will be coming down at what rate who knows. Maybe Trump will oust Powell for his own apointy.... this really couldn't look better.. I'm sure there will be bears and top callers taking shots at the market saying this is it run for the hills yada yada.... I'm in I'm staying in enjoy......

Yes and altho tax- loss selling season is around the corner, the multiple highs hit in the markets this year, will show that not much tax-loss selling will happen. Not in the financials as far as I can see.

I have been very bullish on banks since the regional banking crises of Spring '23. Received much criticism for it too. Being contrarian has paid off. One thing however I would like to point out.... you say "Maybe Trump will oust Powell for his own apointy".... personally I think Mr. Market will not take to this kindly and I will be selling off some of my stake if this comes about.

Hopefully you have a crystal ball, because the movers and shakers of the markets will have a lead on what's happening before you or I do.  They can shake up a market the evening before a waterfall event, by playing the "after hours market"

Trump doesn't have the Constiutional Authority to fire Powell so that discussion is moot.
Comment by flamingogold on Nov 21, 2024 6:10pm
Right he does not, but he might try and that's what the markets wouldn't like.

Mouserman...exactly... What is worse is that the Federal Reserve Bank, unlike what its name suggests,is not owned by the people of the United States but by its member banks.  The Big 5 Banks in the US (JPM, Citi, BAC etc) own about 70% of the Federal Reserve.  All share holder banks are guaranteed a 5% dividend each on their shares. So in reality, if you really look at what the Federal ...more

So did you ever think LCS would pass FTN in unit nav value?  Lifecos have outperformed the banks by quite a bit.
Comment by flamingogold on Nov 21, 2024 6:18pm
I personally did not expect lifecos to perform this well. But, I am happy with my bet on the banks. Both have done well beyond the expectation of most. Worst scenario would have been going to cash waiting for the hard landing which never materialized.
