Can Marathon make any money from copper alone?

The management seems confident that palladium prices will rise, but what happens if they do not.  Can this company still  make any money?  This is the question I have been asking myself over and over again.

at a $4.50 per pound  copper price and $1000 ounce Palladium price. The Marathon mine would be profitable. With earnings per share coming in at about $.50 to $1.00 per share. PGM prices can't remain this low very much longer or most of the PGM mines in South Africa will have to cut production or close. china copper use in isolation would probably support the price tepid recovery, although you would think the property mess there would reduce copper demand in construction while ev production soaks some of it up. The world is also making more and more hybrids, toyota and others are accelerating hybrids. Ev growth is slowing in n america anecdotally in favor of hybrids also.  more hybrids ...more

I ask that question in my last post too. What price does Copper have to be and if the Palladium is below their cost? Can it be stored and sold later when the price rises? In other words is production going to be delayed because of low Palladium prices? What's  the impact and what can be done to avoid production delays? Any more delays and our price could make more new lows. Not what any ...more

Miners do not stockpile their yield in hopes of better prices because they simply cannot. Everyone must be paid this month out of this month's sales: labor, energy, transport, milling & processors, G&A. They are all expecting to get paid for their work right now.
