The Pure Casinos in Alberta have sent out into today that they are open tomorrow with all kinds of food specials and that customers should feel safe in their casinos.

Gamehost and Pure would be a nice merger... Casinos in Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge. I'm guessing ONEX won't sell them for a discounted valuation. Who knows. Thanks, Bridge!!

As someone who has never stepped foot in Alberta, is this a real possibility? I would guess that any merger would mean either the Pure Calgary or Deerfoot Casino would have to be sold to a third party to be okayed. Perhaps instead of a merger, ONEX would be interested in a substantial premium buyout?

The beauty of these assets is that AGLC regulates licenses.  Casinos are treated as investments for their stakeholders: charities, the province and owners.  It is a special privilege to be the operator of a gaming property. With that said, the province recognizes that sustainable models for entertainment provide that competition does not overlap.  So licenses will be supported ...more
