Iceland is considering old fashioned pandemic control

Looks like Iceland (one of the highest vaccinated countries in the world), is experiencing a surge of covid patients in hospital. The surge is straining medical infrastructure. Icland is considering drastic action. If I read correctly, Iceland's plan is to still vaccinate the high risk (elderly etc,) and children in some cases. The rest of the population will be free to roam around and mingle without excessive lockdowns.  Kind of sounds like current Alberta plan?   Hmmmm.........  :-)

It appears the vaccines wane after 6 months or so. 2/3 of Iceland's current Covid hospitalizations were already vaxxed. Same thing happening in Israel.  As investors we may need to accept the possibility that Alberta will experience a similar situation in the months ahead.

It doesn't seem too bad, it says on the Google overview (pulled from government statistics so I don't have to try to read Icelandic) that only 10 people are currently in hospital. This is down from a peak of 73 in Nov, 2020. Hospitalizations were always double digit until April, 2021 so this doesn't seem catastrophic. I don't know if I missed it somewhere but are those being hospitalized now-a-days in Iceland out of the non-vaxed citizens? If they are then it would be significant factor for all of us and not as big of a problem as it might appear. My contacts tell me that the Deerfoot Casino has been booming since opening day, don't know about Boomtown as the name has been changed to the River so I'

Apologies, I commented about data  from a separate article that I did not link. Bottom line: mRNA vaccine effectiveness is rapidly failing in Iceland and Israel and elsewhere. It would be wise to expect similar results in Alberta in a few months.
