Relaxation Time - Favorite Business Movies

I love business movies (you probably figured that out) and here are my favorites in the order that I like them:

1) The Hudsucker Proxy
Extremely well written movie by the Coen brothers and Sam Raimi. It is super funny. You will have to watch it more than once to catch all the zingers. This is the best movie that most people haven't heard of. I guarantee you will watch it more than once.

2) Barbarians at the Gate
This could easily have been my number one pick so let's say it's a tie for first place. The movie is about the leveraged buy out (LBO) of RJR Nabisco in the late 1980's and the lunacy that ensued in a bidding war. The movie is extremely accurate even though some parts are hard to believe. I've read the book by the same name written by a Wall Street Journal reporter (or two of them) and the movie is indeed accurate. A must see.

3) The Founder
About Ray Kroc and how he acquired and built McDonalds. I really loved this one.

4) Other Peoples Money
Starring Danny DeVito. Funny movie. The beginning is great. The middle loses some steam but it picks up again at the end.

5) Wall Street
I imagine everyone has seen this one. Good movie.

6) Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps

and two tv shows as an extra:

1) Succession (HBO) I love this show.
2) Traders (from the late 1990's. You can watch it on Youtube although the video is not so good. The first season is very good, expecially the last episode and the boardroom fight. The other seasons are terrible)

Watch the above with a good bag of chips and some pop and chocolate. Bad for your health but tasty.

Actually I really like to mix a bag of lays BBQ with a bag of lays ketchup. Sounds weird but its very good. It combines salty and sweet with cool and hot.

What can I say I have the same tastes as my young kids :)

Lol I'm going to have to watch all of those and try the sweet, sour, salty, savoury chip combo

I just watched the Hudsucker Scene on Youtube where the CEO jumped out the window. My kind of flick :-)  Gonna watch the whole show when time frees up. Funny , I had never heard of the movie that I recall before TLV's mention. Pretty much anything with Paul Newman works for me. Loved Fort Apache - The Bronx, not the best film by industry standards, just loved the way Newman played ...more

You gotta love Jim Rockford :) I've only seen three Paul Newman movies all loved all three: The Verdict, Slapshot (in Canada Slapshot is mandatory for all mothers to show it to their newborn childres withing 6 months of their birth as the movie is about hockey and we need to keep our competitive advantage in the sport). I should see more because Paul Newman is a good actor.  Nukester ...more

I'm going to have to find this movie now LOL Speaking of books, anyone ever read Eying The Flash? It does relate as I would include Glengarry Glen Ross as a great movie and the book is about the life of a carnival huckster touring the midwest in the early mid sixties. All about the patter in both book and movie and Pacino escorting and pattering the mark out of the office when he came ...more

I never read Eyeing The Flash but I did see Glengarry Glen Ross and you're right it is a very good movie. The more I think of it, I'll have to see it again. Maybe I can come up with a new chip experiment for when I watch this movie :) If anybody has suggestions let me know (snack food wise and movie wise). I don't watch many movies in the summer but I do in the Fall and it is just ...more
