Peak-Oil Supply - on the Horizon...

If you own GH, it's important to keep tabs on Oil price fundamentals.

This research firm hinting that Permian Shale is close to peaking.

Knowing that Texas shale fed the bulk of global oil demand growth the past decade, it's time for people to consider the implications of US shale rolling over.

HINT:  oil prices will move higher barring a major global recession

Not here to sell oil, or to influence your long-term strategy, but if the next recession isn't dire then oil is going to rip higher.  $90-110 is "in the cards"

Interesting article. Peak oil has been the centerpiece of my investment paradigm for nearly twenty years. I think I got to the party a bit early :-) Seriously though, the topic is worthy of much consideration. IMO  global oil supply will decline faster than global demand. Long term (10 -20 years) it is a no brainer, oil will become much more valuable. Short term is different.  The U.S. ...more

Long suffering oil bug myself. Was too fixated on 'reserves in the ground' and how oil was valued in public markets. Owned all the wrong companies back in early 2000's: PETROCHINA CO PETROLEO BRASILEIRO SA CNOOC LIMITED Had yet to figure out what Political Risk was. Canada taught me that lesson with the Famous Halloween Massacre Announcement: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/h ...more

My memory has faded, but I dont think I owned any Canadian stocks back in 2006. Maybe a small position in Canadian Oil Sands? I was just starting to dip my toes in the U.S. in 2004 I got lucky on Petrochina, made couple bucks, got out ramdomly. My biggest mistakes were trusting small cap explorer ceo's. Oilsands quest, Hyperdynamics, etc.  My biggest losses were much later, when the NDP ...more

Nukester...  Amigo Dog Days of Summer approaching.   Every summer we wait for GH's Q2 release.    Kasking seeks the shade of hi-limit sancturaries province-wide, along with the regional Wood Bison. Just as humans used the sun dial to create clocks and calendars, Gamehost shareholders know that the Dog Days have finally ended with the release of Q2 quarterlies. ...more

Lost Oceanex in that massacre...opportunistic buy ...smart bid from Captain & private interests...great business shipping between Montreal, Halifax & St John's.....paid more than massacre crash price but less than I though it was worth...essentially a monopoly in Atlantic Canada trade route. Held it for about 2 years or so if I remember it right

What I found interesting about the whole Trust Massacre is that the business fundamentals did not change.  The tax structure did. In other words:   If you had a solid company, say GH, as an income trust; then you still had a solid company after it converted to a corporation So rather than rationally retaining good quality businesses until the dust settled, people indiscriminately ...more

Malx1==What I found interesting about the whole Trust Massacre is that the business fundamentals did not change.  The tax structure did. Taxation has driven lots of activity in my experience Most similar to this ...people dumping shares for no good reason....was actually due to real estate tax shelters sold primarily to doctors that were exhanged units for publc company Acanthus shares ...more

That's the thing, Sage.  We make poor decisions when emotions take over. That goes for investments, the purchase of a 2023 Accord at the Honda dealership, a detached home in Toronto, you name it. Takes nerves of steel to make the right choice and capture value. How do we accomplish that? I'd ask Kasking. The man can sit with a pair of Aces at the poker table, a $100k cash pot ...more

Pros work with Investment Statements....essentially the articulated discipline they will use for a particular fund....this sets up buy and sell and composition parameters...that "the client" (pension funds, large private wealth etc) who put their money in receive and agree to. After that is is rigourous discipline and adherence to "the plan"... For that they get paid quite ...more

Bringing this back.    We all talked about $90 oil and its impact on GH just three months ago.    Well, Kasking warned me it was on the horizon.     Here we are.    Wait for it.
