Recent Google Review of GH Great Northern Casino

Doing some GH research and found this google review of Great Northern.
I thought it was a bit funny, so figured I would share it :-)

A couple months ago, a customer gave the Great Northern Casino a 2 out of 5 star review  on Google.

"Wow, played in many Casinos even work 2. I am not expecting Vegas ratios, but man I have never had a casino clean me out so fast with out even activating a bonus round. Keep your $$$$ in your pockets or go out for a super expensive dinner and a hotel night it is cheaper!"

Sounds like the Wills are running the casino just fine to me :-)
I wonder what the reviewer would of said after leaving the poker table with Kasking and Malx?

Cheers,
Nukester

2 of 3 visits, even 3 of 4 visits, you're going to leave with less than you arrived with. The experience is the "Entertainment", never a wealth-building strategy.    Your odds become more favourable when Kasking is around. He's settled the tab long before it arrives. But we won't find this on Google! Nukester - I like your investigative research methods, ...more

Nuke....sounds like a loser to me...been to Vegas over the years, probably 50 times, never ever won anything  substantial, never expected to, went for the fun entertainm, atmosphere, companionship etc. Now I nave seen winners over the years GNC Seen a young couple win 350000 playing penny machines, another guy from out of town 325000, immediatly went out & bought a new motor home ...more

Always appreciate Kasking's modesty. "Nothing Substantial" may suggest a little shy of 7-figures.

Biggest winner is the government. I recently read an academic report (older from 2010) like 85% of the overall gross Alberta gaming revenue, tables, vlt's, lottery, etc.  goes to the government.  Kind of odd to me in a sense, prior to reading the report I thought charities took home the lions share of the revenue. Maybe that was just table revenue? You guys might chuckle, but I play ...more

Each of the provinces has a Gaming Commission which is run by the province (except in mine where it's pooled and jointly owned by 4). I'm not sure exactly how it works in Alberta, but the fund used here is used for charitable efforts and goodwill projects. Like they fund new hospital wings, new parks, etc. that might be glossed over by the actual government. None of it is really for profit ...more

Nukester, Depends on how we view things.    In Alberta, AGLC has historically shared commissions 15% Charity / 15% Casino Operator / 70% Provincial Govt. That was adjusted Post-pandemic. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gamehost-announces-aglc-temporary-increase-123000509.html Temporary increase for Operators to 17% while Govt reduced to 68%. We don't discuss this, no need.  ...more

Malx, That was an excellent overview of pro' s and con's of Alberta gaming. Glad we all had a few minutes to wax philosophical. Speaking of the 2024 AGM, assuming it is in May? My baby girl is graduating from Boston University May, 2024. We shall see ;-) Cheers, Nukester

Let's say they are both "Expert" equity investors, with track records of 10% average annual returns over a period of 40yrs.  They achieved this performance through exposure to Large-cap dividend stocks in US and Canadian markets.     Both retirees have proven their worth as stewards of retirement savings.  They did a good job, didn't deviate from the path ...more

Wishing our crew here the very best of wishes in 2024. Some wonderful posts here lately and I see that Malx1 is working diligently during the Christmas season. The drink and food story seems to be getting a life of its own here. So what started off as an offer, quite a while ago, of buying kasking a round of beer if we hit $10 is growing. The offer of drinks at my favourite Wild Horse pub for any ...more

TheBridge, Looking forward to AGM.    Make you a deal. You grab a beer at Wild Horse for me, I'll grab one for Kasking in GP. Only problem is, guys like Kasking keep a nice bankroll at the casino.   Line of Credit. Up a few hundred, down a few hundred, all in a matter of minutes.  Hundred thousands, that is. When you reach that level, his F&B are ...more
