Stock Split

this company should do a stock split soon. The price keeps rising and my DRIP keeps getting narrower in number of shares

Exactly how would a split help you? Cheers

lol it's painfully obvious many people have little clue about stock splits, other than feeling like a portfolio manager owning a large number of shares of something with a much lower price. In this case, as with others, a stock split would not change anything in the DRIP as the dividend would also be 'split'. Most stocks with excessive splits end up topping and dragging for years ...more

Thanks for the condescending reply. You are telling me the dividend gets split too?? no way! It would help me because I own 236 shares. If they hadn't raised the dividend I would not be able to get any shares on drip anymore because the dividend is smaller than the share price. Now that they raised it I can still get a share every quarter but if the price keeps rising I am going to have to buy ...more

"the price higher doesn't help me in the long run" It doesn't help you? What? So let me get this straight, you don't want the price to go UP because you wouldn't be able to buy a DRIP share with the dividend?? And you want a stock split to fix this? LMAO. wow. I thought I'd seen it all here but this is next level stupid..

You are sniffing too much out of date pork and can't see how something isn't beneficial to you could be to someone else. I never said I didn't want the price ti go up. I said the price being up higher by a couple bucks because of low volume does nothing for me in the long run. I have a decade plus outlook on this. I would much prefer to compound the dividend as compound interest than ...more

[/quote] I can show you charts that show the opposite. Pick any O&G stock, pipeline stocks etc..Personally, as someone who takes the accumulated cash from all dividends, your DRIP is a diluton to shareholders. Furthermore I wouldn't automatically assume DRIPing shares is an automatic win as if every stock goes up forerver. Many stocks cute dividends and their stocks collapsed and never ...more

I cannot imagine any successful investor being against stock splits.  I have profited handsomely from several.  They are the path to glory.  Now you don't have to go crazy - I agree with that, like aapl now having a float of 14billion.  Yikes.  And ccl well I have noticed a long period of consolidation after its split. Based on technicals I am back in on that one once ...more

Could you please explain this? I have been through many stock splits as well, and aside from usually correlating with a time if high growth in the company and its share price, I have yet to see a single instance where the act of splitting the shares increased wealth in any way at all for myself..... As for dividends, if it were up to me, goeasy would not pay any of them at all, as it is very well ...more

I don't think your comparison is fair because you are basically comparing this company in a growing segment to companies that face cyclical declines. This is an apples to oranges comparison. If the management did not offer a dividend and instead invested into growth, I would be completely ok with that. The fact that they offer a dividend and raise it a large amount every year means that they ...more

I am totally okay with special dividends, and go easy Eid doing a phenomenal job, and that is while paying dividends, so it is what it is..... I stand by that I would prefer they pay them special when they cannot find a better place, than to pay scheduled and regular... Right now, it is possible that the dividend pay out is preventing business expansion or efficiency, it is also possible that it ...more

I wonder what avenues of growth they are going to go into. They seem to be very conservative on making acquistions. With Fairstone coming after Eady Financials market share, I hope they find a place to grow. I think if they need the money they could just as easily raise dividends by 10% a year and still be a remarkable dividend growth play. Management is making the decision to give a lot back to ...more

I believe it was in the M&A, not the most recent one but the one just prior, that they are going to have a push into on-site and online used auto-lending. I remember them saying that they saw tremendous growth here. I also believe they are looking at finding other products with lower interest for their regular customers. It would not surprise me if they eventually consider small mortgages and ...more
