Even Goodman's charity ... designed for long-term success

As executive chair of Knight Therapeutics, which markets and licenses drugs from international drugmakers for Canada and Latin America, Goodman is still deeply involved in the world of pharmaceuticals and remains dedicated to helping others through his philanthropy. “Ironically, selling drugs pays for my tzedakah habit,” he jokes.

On a more serious note, he adds that the word “recovery” is not the right term for a traumatic brain injury. “I will never recover, and I will never be who I was. But I am smart enough and driven enough to make a difference in this world.”

That life-changing konk on the noggin obviously didn't affect the portion of JRG's brain that governs his hubris level. He's got plenty of that in spades, along with a surfeit of hauteur, pomposity, and just a smidge of superciliousness. They are like a pest in a financial plague looking for other bad losers like themselves to bail them out of their bad investment decisions. I may be back if sporadically as spring is around the ...more

Caveat Emptor is generally sound advice in any situation. I was an early buyer of GUD based on a compelling story. The story seemed to be entirely about one man: the magical JRG. I liked the story, and, in spite of his oddness, or perhaps because of it, I liked the man. Ten years on, I'm not at all reassured by the recent news item that he believes his work in pharma is only a means of ...more

Ya - I don't judge Goodman for the person he is - there are many sides to him and he's juggled them well.  I don't judge him for his accident as he's still more capable than most. I do like that he turned over the reigns as doing so is very difficult for  a controlling person.  I give him credit for knowing when it's time to walk away from day-to-day. Also - he ...more
