Estimating Google Deal Benefits to Glacier
I have seen no analyses todate on the details of this deal;
What is clear is that the deal involves direct cash compensation and the right to advertize on Google.
The intent here is to reduce the 85 % stranglehold which Google and Facebook have of the $8.8 billion online ad revenue in Canada in 2019 ( probably over $10 billion by now ).
While Both remain unknown, it must be very significant given the massive insider buying of Glacier stock in the past year since these deals were coming to Canada.
I dont see a 10 % clawback of Google and Facebook share of the Canadian Market does much to assauge the Canadian ad business.
20 % however would be significant.
So, lets see how the numbers evolve and whether we will get a buyout offer from Madison before these numbers become public knowledge.
With the ongoing and accelerating converison of print to online digital by Glacier, this business could be an attractive takeover candidate.
