Facebook.

MENLO PARK, Calif. - Three more Canadian publishers have joined a Facebook Inc. program that involves the tech giant doling out cash for news content used on its platform.

Facebook says the Globe and Mail, Black Press Media and Glacier Media have enrolled in its News Innovation Test program.

The program already has 14 members, including the National Observer, FP Newspapers, Le Devoir, the Tyee, the SaltWire Network and the publisher of Le Soleil.

Through the program, Facebook pays undisclosed amounts to link to the publishers' articles on pages dedicated to topics like COVID-19 or climate science pages.

Facebook refused to disclose the value or structure of the deals, but previously told The Canadian Press the program will be multi-year in scope and does not include payments for news links already posted by publishers.

The announcement comes after news publishers experiencing sinking advertising revenues pushed for the tech giant to share more of its profits.

Another source of free cash flow plus the option to advertise on FB. Next up Amazon... A few more minor blocks were crossed today, so  the price continues to be knee capped for late entrants .
