By taking them out they gained access to new markets (like railways) and geographic areas (like asia) and they gained very impressive technology which many experts agree was intergrated and meshed very well with their own by the end of 2013.

Unfortunately the Initium technology was never successfully deployed, only with caveats and missing functionality.  Check out the failures like Jet2, AirAsia, Germanwings, Finnair Catering initial deployment attempts, Lufthansa worldshop, etc etc..... I agree  with much that you said. GXI did have a lot of growing pains, that is is why they went through a review. The Intium purchase was more for their contacts and customer book. The Intium technology was streamlined and intergrated into GXI.  GXI new that they could not go it alone, just using their existing solutions and technology.
