We still don't understand you.  What do you mean? :)

The Constancia mine is a good third of their income.  If anything happens to it the already unstable share price will be hit hard. Is the swoon over the last few days related to political risk? - probably.  Some investors flee at the sound of political risk.  We saw the share price tank to $7.50 earlier this month, it could easily happen again.  I have lightened my position ...more

"...It is hard to find a copper play without political risk." Have you taken a serious look at the Pumpkin? It will be big soon even if small now. April 27 NCU was almost bankrupt with $2.50 to $3.00 copper   Last year, with copper was in the $2.60 to $3.00 range and Covid had shut the mine down, NCU was almost broke.   NCU's all in cost is $1.86 (AISC) ...more

I agree. It is hard to find a copper play without political risk, which is why I opened a small position in NCU Nevada Copper. It's the only producer with 100% of its production in the USA. The mine just started up recently; so yes, there is still execution risk, but provided this can be sorted out, then potentially there is good upside (albeit speculative, at least until it proves out a ...more

Agreed... One note. The share count at NCU will be consolidated (or announced... not sure) on June 17 at the AGM. No one knows the ratio... I am hoping for a minimum of 20:1 so 1.8 billion shares (2.4 billion fully diluted) become 90 million shares or 120 million fully diluted. Cheers, N

North America has the worst political issues for mining. you have the natives the left  the tree huggers the privileged worst than 3rd world countries. these don't have the expertise nor the money. it is just fear monger ing and positioning to get more money but never they really nationalize. All talk and no action. Because it will hurt them more in the long run when nobody invest in ...more

That really depends on the individual state or the province, doesn't it? North America is not one standard uniform jurisdiction. There are a number of mining friendly states and provinces across the continent. For the most part, Nevada is a fairly mining friendly state, and copper is a green energy metal; so it's not like we're talking about an open pit coal mine in an urban core of ...more

"...For the most part, Nevada is a fairly mining friendly state..." Too bad Rosemont is located in Arizona. :)
Comment by llihevad1 on Apr 29, 2021 1:07pm
Rosemont was approved The courts are interpreting a 1850 federal law not a state law, based on whether federal land can be used to dump mine waste on it when it does not have any underlying minerals indentified. The only other pending court case was leveled at the Army corps water permit. Which is now moot since the Army Corps are saying they do not have jurisdiction. If they win this case I do ...more

I sold my bit of HBM because of Peru and bought Lundin without much dd other than to see they are not in Peru. As of today that hasn't worked out well.

I often see issues with miners in South America but keep in mind Hudbay has a lot going for them in Canada and hopefully the USA issues are resolved. I don't expect to see any major changes in Peru given what Hudbay adds to their economy.  Right now the price of CU and AU/AG and other base metals are looking good and Hudbay can only benefit from the rising commodity prices. Is Hudbay ...more
