US Hotel REITs have recovered

I realise that AHIP's zero distribution is a problem but the stock should have recovered to a level much higher than it has. Something else is holding this back.

Patience ... August release of Q2 results will be good and provide a bump. Q3 will be even better. One interesting thing i learned from some inside the hotel industry is that even with occupancy's not fully receovered yet they are saving huge on operating costs as they are only cleaning rooms before and after stays. This has brought total operating costs down significantly which is positive ...more

Pandemic plays are slowly unravelling as more and more people come to their senses and slowly get back to some normalcy which will include travel. Lumber prices tank 42% in June for worst drop on record

Hello All. Been a long time since I visitited Stockhouse and the T.HOT.UN board. Perhaps seven or eight months. I do have a bit of this in both non registered and TFSA and am down about 25% and  40% I do think the company value will return along with distribution, but I think it will be several years away. Travel is one of the extreme laggards of covid. Vaccines have helped turn the tide and kickstart a recovery but we need to get our land border opened. Even though these properties are in the US, a free and open land border sends a strong message of confidence to all consumers that it is safe to travel. I agree that an initial lower dividend will be reinstated either late 2021 or early 2022. It will not be precovid levels. The $50 mil investment from Bentall GreenOak is really just a loan, it is actually at 9% and increases. As long as they cover the interest payment the balance can be distributed in dividends. They also get 2.5 million warrants at around $4.50 I believe so that will add some ...more
