Oilsands is dead

Major investors will not touch this,and big holders will gradually exit.Husky is finished!!!

I guess you mean "Oilsands are dead" because its plural, not singular. Here are a few facts for the tragically misinformed. Alot of HSE production does not come from the oilsands. Some of it comes from in-situ thermal projects that have absolutely nothing to do with oil sands operations. Another chunk comes from offshore light oil on the East Coast which again has absolutely nothing ...more

husky has no surface mining at all.  Their SAGD are comprised of numerous 5000 to 10,000 bo/day projects. The project design is cookie cutter style so that once a project is depleted, it can re-use most of the equips in the next project, and save on engineering design as well.

Thanks MRBB--its another example of people with multiple handles who come on here knowing nothing about anything. As you say, HSE is not an oilsands player.

Oilsand is a very loose and vague term. The media portray oilsand mostly as surface mining since it can be photographed, the public sees the photos and relate oilsand as mining oil. Only ~20% of oilsand reserves are extracted by surface mining, ~80% are extracted by SAGD. Husky is more of a heavy oil player but uses SAGD to maximize recovery.  Without SAGD, heavy oil recovery is about 5 to 15 ...more

Meantime I am hearing (not from the EIA which is very biased with its American production numers) that USA pumpers have seen a very rapid decline from 13M bbls a day to 9M bbls a day and the oil crisis is only 2 months old-- and this time private equity does not want "in" to the fracking game-- it wants "out."
