of North America and toward Asia more.... but first impression is that this deal seems fair/reasonable for both parties.    Very Good for Preferreds I think.

Does anyone know the fate on the part of PetroChina&Husky joint venture for natural gas production at South China sea under this deal???  That operation is fairly big and makes big bucks. China's natural gas is 3-5 times more expensive than Canada. It is the money maker and subsidize the disasterous operation in NA. It is the only reason I have been hanging on with HUSKY. My ...more

GoldOilInvestor I don't see any good reason for CVE-HSE to divest this asset. The contract pricing is great, and it will generate decent profits for years to come, since natgas has a long runway in the transition to greener energy. If any assets do get sold, I suspect it might be the Atlantic Offshore biz (preferably only after the oil market stages a recovery in a year or two so there isn' ...more

GoldOilInvestor Yes. China's demand for natgas will be strong for decades to come. Russia's Gazprom is positioning to be a major supplier via pipelines. NA west coast LNG export terminals (LNG Canada as well as PBA's planned Jordan Cove project) have a proximity advantage over US GulfofMexico based terminals. HSE's Asia projects are likewise ideally located to capture the China ...more

Thank you autofocus111. Canada is building Costal Link Pipeline from Dowson City to Kitimat to export LNG to East Asian countries. Due to the politics, the plan is to supply gas to Japan instead of China. Japan is suffering acute gas shortage. Japan cannot receive Russian gas due to conflict over islands.
