This is perfectly normal.I've been practicing criminal law for 20 years.   The lawyer needs to read carefully the evidence and see if a common law defence could find application, or if there was any Charter violation. Maybe have expertises done. Then have plea bargainings discussions with the prosecutor, among other things.  Nobody comes straight in court at the first appearance ...more

LOL, yep... maybe that's why it's taken several years for that guy that drove down the sidewalk of Yonge Street in Toronto killing many people was just brought to court last week or so for his FIRST court appearence and pleaded not Guilty.   HOLY F#$K.      It's "normal" people say..... nothing wrong.   All just my opinion.

I remember I think a Muslum Father and Son that was living in I think the GTA.     The mother and daughters were in I think Montreal.     One day they found the mother and daughters in a car in the bottom of a lake or river.   Dispite Father and Son living in the GTA and no evidence that they were ever in Montreal, in just days they were brought to court ...more

This is the Shafia case. They appeared in 2009 and were found guilty in 2012 As for the Toronto van attack, he already first appeared in 2018. Nothing is wrong with the system, except the medias

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shafia_family_murders   Ya, that's the case.   My memory of events was incorrect, it happened in 2009.  It took only 15 hours to get guilty verdict of First Degree Murder on only it seems evidence of a "broken tail light"??? on a used car???? that was in the bottom of the locks??? Why would some report an "accident" ...more

it was Kingston and Montreal..... anyways, 2 separate cities.    Father and son in a totally separate city.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_van_attack Everything was caught on camera.   This system is messed up if this happened in 2018 and still the trial is going on. Meanwhile the Shafia case was done in 15 hours.   No witnesses.   It seems guilty verdict based on broken tail light??????
Comment by Husky4000 on Nov 17, 2020 10:22pm
They meant it took 15 hours for the jury to reach an unanimous verdict. trial was something like 3-4 months long. Media is full of fake news lol
