4% discount to takeover price

Can't help but notice that T.ZZZ is trading nearly at its takeover price while T.HTL is trading at a 4% discout to its takeover price. Anybody have insights why this is? Of the two companies, I would think T.HTL is much more likely to receive a superior bid.

Both prices reflect the respective offers. The slight difference might be Fairfax is a well known company with a lot of available liquidity.  4% isn't an unusual discount to the offer. I doubt there will be a higher for  Hamilton Thorne. The world has changed a lot in the last year with the turn to the right of the Supreme Court in the U.S..,  Rowe vs Wade overturned and there ...more

At $2.12, this is now trading at 6% below takeover price. Been following HTL for years back to $0.20 days, but never took a significant long term position. Seems like worth taking a flyer on at this price to hold to closing date in a couple of months?

I wanted more but I am banking over $150,000 on the deal.  Go on take the money and run.   I am looking at some tech bargains........Cheerio to all the long termers!

Congrats on the longterm hold dogatcat! At the moment I am holding since at $2.04 this is trading 10% below the $2.25 cash purchase price, and the transaction should be complete in a month or two. Is the market really that negative on the completion of the transaction?

Plenty of volume today, too. 10% arb is pretty crazy.  I'm tempted to buy more as I've seen nothing to suggest that the transaction won't go through, but the market is definitely telling us otherwise.   Maybe fear that the FTC will interfere again?   Or just the fact that it's been nearly a month since the announcement with no news whatsoever? https:/ ...more

When I looked up Cook Medical ART, I came across the same articale about the attempted acquisition by Cooper. But I think that situation was totally different - Cooper is a leader in the ART space (see https://fertility.coopersurgical.com/about-us/). I could see why FTC would get involved in that proposed transaction between Cooper and Cook Medical as it would consolidate even more of the ART ...more

Guys, very nice recent posts. Having seen some research reports  that discussed regulatory concerns and maintained their prior slightly lower targets , there is a concern. I'm not sure it's valid  for the reasons  colourama indicated, not that I'll buy more for a 7.14% discount. This isn't a Strad Inc where an offer came out just days before COVID and that stock ...more
