I have lost serious money on HVU. Last month I put my money into HGU (gold miners).  I can at least say the bleeding has stopped. I personally think gold is a better way to trade on market fear. This is the wrong thread to talk about gold.   Many of us (me included) get into this without fully understanding how a VIX ETF works.  Unfortunately it doesn’t oscillate with the VIX index.

Yes, in general gold is easier to trade short term fear. But i have also seen both gold and S&P go down together on rate hike fears. No amount of fear stopped gold from plunging in early 2013, or long term until end of 2015. I think gold bugs are full of shitt personally, and gold will resume falling long term.
