After the USA numbers...

We got the same good numbers for Canada.I would have like to see higher % increase in single but still an increase.

Trudeau will pump a lot of $$$ in housing in tonight budget.

The flow of all this stimulus $$$ from government around the world is creating huge demand in the majority of commodity.

The best is yet to come...

OTTAWA - The annual pace of housing starts in Canada soared higher in March as it climbed 21.6 per cent compared with February.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. says the seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts rose to 335,200 units, up from 275,567 in February.

The annual pace of urban starts rose 24.4 per cent in the month to 300,973 as the pace of starts of apartments, condos and other types of multiple-unit housing projects climbed 33.8 per cent to 222,358 units.

The annual rate of single-detached urban starts rose 3.6 per cent to 78,615.

Rural starts were estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 34,227 units.

Hi sunshine7, in fact if you take a look at the latest IFP Feb.presentation, they say that only 6% of lumber sales goes to Canada. I was only pointing to very strong USA and Canadian housing starts for March. With this kind of economic dynamics, and lumber forward pricing i always beleived that my $40+ was a given, now i am starting to think that the CIBC$50 target will be reach sooner than ...more

I was only going by (short) memory, but you are right, the trend is universal and big cash will flow into the sector.
