Good  morning Apaulson, Out of sheer curiosity, do you have a position in IFP? I ask because you seem to be one of the most active poster on IFP board and seem to dislike the mngt team. I used to have a big position in Interfor, made and lost a lot with them. Would have to check it out but i think i lost more than i made. I decided to build very slowly a small position based on the value ...more

@ lifeisgood1010 Good luck to you as well. This board is pretty dead.....I've been practically having a conversation with myself here. Is lumber at trough levels?  Seems like it, but I think more capacity has to come out of the market. Managment at IFP went on a buying spree over the pandemic that has not panned out unfornately. I think they'll benefit with a drop in the interest ...more

Lumber at trough level??? Go here https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/lumber Click on 10 years...while it might not look like a trough, I think it is the bottom in this cycle. Where I live 4, 5 and even 6 storey buildings are going up EVERYWHERE it seems and they are ALL wood frame...it's not a "if" but a "when" IMO before lumber rebounds to near the 600 dollar mark ...more

Lumber should rebound...I agree it's just a matter of time. Cash costs for most mills are higher than selling prices....they can't continue like this but they will run out their log decks becuase they've already incurred sunk costs.  Once that lag is over, the price shoiuld rise as long as Euro imports don't meaningfully pick up.
