TTD/MGNI

Once again, both of these companies (who have already crushed AT performance wise this week) are in the green. As there has been no negative news and the markets and sector are strong, I'm becoming more convinced that the Market Makers are playing with this stock. GLTA

Convinced by what? Because the price is underpeforming? Market makers don't manipulate price by keeping it down, they try to make some money on the spreads. Have you looked at the order flow? I have and I dont see anything out of the oridinary, just a lack of demand. When it was rising before you saw lots of big boy orders come through on the tape, this is not happening. Bids are shallow ...more

My exact thought.. calm before the storm.. the floodgates in the US are waiting to open

One thing to consider is the % up the last while. From Dec 1 as a reference point, (randomly chosen). MGNI is up 135% AT is up  134% at $18.

What about the percent down from the recent highs of TTD, MGNI, AT.

Early yet but for the first time this week, we're sandwiched between MGNI (up 4.8%) and TTD (up 1%). GLTA
Comment by retiredcf on Mar 11, 2021 12:15pm
Nice to see our SP a bit healthier but we're still sandwiched as MGNI has really picked up steam and is now up another 11.5%. There's certainly no question that the sector is strong. GLTA

Thought you were convinced it is being manipulated by market makers? Now that it is up is it also because of MM manipulation? You are not going to be able to explain a daily fluctuation in a stock like AT unless you can point to specifics whcih you clearly cannot. It's not super liquid so volatility will be higher than others and if you are able to attribute every daily change then you should ...more

Hate to say this, but Retiredcf is correct.  If you have been watching the level 2 quotes, there has been sell walls in place nearly a week pushing the SP lower.   To save myself time explaining a Sell Wall... here's where someone has done a servicable job. https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7nqts3/sell_walls_what_they_are_what_they_do_and_how_to/
Comment by Wansfell on Mar 11, 2021 12:51pm
The manipulation may not have been done by the MMs... but it was done by someone... and it worked very well until this morning.
Comment by skelterhelter on Mar 11, 2021 1:09pm
I am very familiar with how MMs, broker-dealers, and hedge funds work. It may very well be a "sell wall" but it would be a pathetic one. We are talking about blocks of 5-10K holding the stock back. Back even a couple of weeks ago these would have been eaten really quickly in an accumulation phase. My point being, demand at this price is relatively weak and whatever anyone is or isn' ...more
Comment by Wansfell on Mar 11, 2021 1:20pm
The sell blocks were in the 30,000 to 50,000 share plus range and the offers to buy were in the 2,000 share range.    As you say, the volume in this stock is very low so it worked well in manipulating the price lower...  Sell walls would not exist if they didn't work... and there has been someone playing with a sell wall since the bounce last Friday. Regarding the stronger ...more
Comment by skelterhelter on Mar 11, 2021 1:28pm
Yes, exactly my point. It only "works" because volume is low and bids are weak at this price level.  I still stand by my previous hypothesis that Canadian funds are likely maxed out on allocation and it needs new money (read US) to push it back up higher.
Comment by Wansfell on Mar 11, 2021 1:34pm
I think you're spot on with your hypothesis... now lets hurry up and test it with a NASDAQ listing!  GLTA
Comment by Torontojay on Mar 11, 2021 2:37pm
Good point. Many of us who bought earlier are maxed out at the moment and there's only so much money people are willing to allocate to a name. I added more recently but I'm certainly overweight  as are many others. We need new demand or investor interest which will bring the stock up to the $30 range. I believe this will be achieved when we hit the Nasdaq but certainly by the second ...more

TOJay: No kidding! I took a full position at $2. I find it hard to justify not rebalancing my portfolio, much less buy more...
Comment by fdfd12 on Mar 11, 2021 1:36pm
Why would anyone put in a sell block of 30,000 if they believed that the stock will be higher later on? They put sell blocks cause they fell it is time to get out
Comment by Wansfell on Mar 11, 2021 1:49pm
Let me guess.... you didn't bother to read the link I attached with the explanation of  a sell wall... it clearly explains why... nor do I wish to spend the time repeating what someone else has already done so well. GLTA
Comment by fdfd12 on Mar 11, 2021 1:35pm
Those sell blocks are there cause they want to sell the stock perhaps because of the cookies thing from last week, not cause of manipulation.
Comment by fdfd12 on Mar 11, 2021 2:36pm
You are right that I hadn't read it. I did now. One thing doesn't make sense in that article. Thye all buy 250,000 shares each which is 1M shares. The wirter says this didn't affect the share price much. Then they all together sell thier 1M shares at 2.40. How come 1M shares buying didn't move the price up much but yet 1M shares selling is going to kill the price? Sorry but I ...more
Comment by BeatsBast on Mar 11, 2021 4:18pm
Weak hands think someone is trying to dump a boat load of shares so they get scared into selling below the wall. If it wasn't for the wall, the ask price would have been steadily higher as the shares would have been bought upwards... Hope that makes sense
