Hi matt2018, your idea makes a lot of sense, selling an additional 10% stake in Essakane to the Burkina Faso government could be a strategic move. By increasing their stake to 20%, the government would have a stronger financial interest in ensuring the mine's security and success. This partnership could potentially mitigate risks associated with terrorist attacks and shakedowns, as the government would be more incentivized to protect their investment.

The idea of an 80-20 split might provide greater peace of mind, reducing the constant concerns associated with operating in a high-risk region. Even at a discount, this approach could balance the scales in favor of stability and security, which is invaluable in the long run.

It's a thoughtful strategy that combines financial prudence with risk management.

Hi matt2018, some further thoughts, this 80 – 20 split proposal is indeed an interesting strategic move, however, there are various factors that the Burkina Faso government would need to evaluate before accepting this offer, including, their financial situation, their strategic interests, and their willingness to increase their stake in Essakane.
