You can switch INE to the AQN- will book tax-loss, avoid overhang dividend cut and bigger capital appreciation. Sooner or later INE will have to reduce dividend and will repeat  AQN  history. Now INE is weakest renewable company and no catalyst to boost share price

Market expecting to cut dividend from Innergex. They need to repeat story AQN  - cut dividend, CEO  out , clean balance sheet and get activist investor.

Agree.  With a $661M investment in INE, which is now worth less than half, you would think Hydro Quebec would be pounding their fist on the table.  Heads should be rolling.  A major shak-up is needed.

Hydro Quebec is not a pension fund so return on investment may not be an important consideration. HQ's mandate is to supply a reliable supply of energy to the province so the strategic reason for the INE shares it acquired probably trumps ROI.
Comment by tayson on Feb 06, 2024 10:06am
The investment in INE does nothing to increase the reliable supply of energy, so your comment is off base.  Not ony that, but their investment in INE must be at arms length and completely disconnected from their mandate to supply reliable energy, or it would put them in a conflict of interest (INE bids in to HQ calls for power).  Having said that, I agree there may be factors beyond ROI ...more

This move down, if followed by a dividend cut, needs to be investigated for insider trading.

Someone on yahoo finance says national bank stated they were cutting dividend but I cannot find the source

INE mulls a dividend cut to fund growth Over the last few weeks, we believe that INE has been contemplating a strategic shift, which could lead to a dividend cut by the time Q4 reporting rolls around. While we believe that INE's dividend is sustainable in the long run, the high-payout model is a relic from the days of the Income Trusts and not consistent with the organic growth focus ...more

We will loose more value on any dividend cut as usual. This company has an article in La Presse business section this morning and the CEO is talking about the company but not a word on profit, cost reduction, dividend safety. But travelling and coming back home and feeling happy yeah. during this time the stock is sinking to lowest level ever. Wow, how do we react as shareholders? We move our ...more

Innergex is poorly managed in my opinion. I believe it was a poor decision to issue a dividend in the first place. I invested in a long term growth company, not a short term income source. I wish they get their act together and either sell to a bigger fish or merge with a company that can properly manage them. Just my opjnion.

Real telling day. Down big as all other boats float up with the tide. A complacent mgmt team with no idea where they are going.

Like I mentioned before , INE will repeat  stoty of AQN, sooner or later. Safest way for me , sell INE and buy AQN - you will have tax-loss and still in thus sector with better opportunity

This is concerning on many levels.  First of all, how did RBC get this information, which wasn't available to the average investor?  Second, it smells of an attempt at blame/distraction from management's inability to increase EPS, the true underlying issue.  Had they grown EPS over the last 10 years, and share price rose accordingly, they would have effectively grown ...more

FROM TD    Innergex's (INE) share price has significantly underperformed its peers in recent months. In our view, this partly reflects investors' concern around the company's elevated dividend payout ratio. Management has a target of enhancing liquidity to support development activities. We anticipate that ongoing efforts will centre around incremental asset sell-downs and ...more
