Why the Cheap money

I keep scratching my head, why would institutional investors give Ivanhoe Mines $575 Million US Dollars in practically free/cheapmoney. I mean at interest rate of 2.5% it is a joke for a sum of that size. The only thing i can think of is that once some bonanza news comes forwards the share price will double or triple and these institutions can convert these bonds to shares at $9.31 a piece.....perhaps something big is coming out of South Africa soon....could be a game changer in my opinion.......

It's only just talk until it's all tracked and certified. Go back to RF interviews. He talks about how they will use blockchain to track it.  This blockchain ability already exists and is slowly rolling out. No doubt the rollout of this technology will speed up in the future.

hopefully its not developed with those unsophisticated moron wannabies from HIVE, what a douche that guy not worthy of sharing interview with RF and the mighty IVN - non wonder they deleted the clip.

PT, I don't think they will use a wannabe for this. My guess is it will involve VeChain based in Singapore, backed by Price Waterhouse Coopers.   Sunny Lu left his position as CIO of LVMH China to develop the technology. They already have a number of Fortune 500 co's lined up and at the end of a recent AMA (ask me anything) available on YouTube, Sunny was discussing the carbon ...more

Given the company has the option to pay back in cash, i agree its a head scratcher.  One thought that comes to mind is the money is lent by the Chinese as someone else suggested.  agree they don't care about the interest rate and this may be a way around them not being allowed to increase their equity % in IVN until 2024.

cashtango00, just wanted to point out about your IVN financing comments. PLEASE READ THE LATEST RELEASE AGAIN. This is what RF SAID; “We received tremendous inbound interest in our convertible notes financing from leading North American and European fundamental institutional investors, NO CHINESE. CLEAR  AS MUD ??? Also, think of it like it is, A HUGE LOAN AT ONLY 2.5 %, NOTHING MORE, ...more

"Clueless" but some big players are heavy sellers since last 2 weeks.  but hey a random poster onon sh (aka TA) is more knowledgeable that big institutional players.

Just because there was tremendous interest from said group does not eliminate all other groups , you read way too much into that.

I’m thinking this is some sort insider lending. The comment to tax advantage handling makes me think that, along with the 2.5 % rate. The source of funds, buyers of the bonds had to of been know before they where offered.   Ivanhoe spends a lot each month promoting the venture, monthly professionally produced news releases. RF is on several venues doing something what twice a month.  One ...more

Inflation rising faster than interest rates...........commodities indexed to inflation. It makes perfect sense for RF to raise capitol now. I doubt there will be any dilution down the road from this. I think this guy explains it fairly well .
