IVN and Backwardation

Backwardation in copper is hitting the copper stocks. Not so long ago,the markets were indicating the copper shortages that would happen due to demand that would exceed supplies.Difficult for me to understand this change of course. Is copper no longer seen as having supply issues going forward or is this Backwardation just a short term issue?

Easy peasy, China slowing with a chance of a housing collapse , when US housing collapsed it was 7% of GDP , China housing is 28% of GDP , copper going nowhere till we know how China cleans housing up dyodd

Even then - IVN numbers are out mid Nov - at this point, unless someone has put pen to paper AND has a bit of a math head, no one knows what $4.30 in copper means for IVN. In November they will know!

$4.30 copper means immense profitability for Ivanhoe Mines Limited. Just note the cost to production figures and mine profitability metrics underlying the very existence of KK as the world's highest grade ore processing mining operation, amongst other clearly indicated data. Then factor in the immense value which is to be created and certainly experienced by IVN's share price, as ...more

I've seen it listed somewhere - on one of the Ivanhoe reports or site I believe...What is the cost of copper around which KK was built?  I thought I saw that all in cost was $1.25 to $1.85 per pound.  Anything higher is profitable. Anyone know offhand where that info is?

I expect that information should be ferreted out by those persons suggesting that $4.4420 copper price would some how impact Ivanhoe's PROFITABILITY going forward; it doesn't. When your profit imbedded 'profit margin' is as lofty as the underlying economics supporting the KK operations  would dictate - and let us not forget the profitability associated with and resulting from ...more

That was meant to read when your imbedded 'profit margin' is as lofty as the . . .  AND . . . you needn't worry about such distractions put forth by persons who themselves are attempting to buy more IVN shares at lower entry price points.

@1poontang Your kidding me. Topadvisor1 is certainly not utilizing my handle. Curious though, I do think the name 1poontang would actually be a handle that Topadvisor would utilize; and in certain circles it doesn't mean baby anything. 1poontang It is a quite derogatory term refering to a quite beautiful and well put together woman; as in now that's one nice piece of poontang, lol. And all the fools thought Tesla was going nowhere 2 years ago. It was $50.00 and now it is $5,000, and the 5 for 1 split has it now at $1,000. Thinking we have over supply of copper going forward is a fools thought. IVN  will be reporting it's very 1st quarter of earnings but we all know it will only get better and better as time goes on. This will be a totally different company in 2 ...more
