BHP

With the new Wyloo bid for Noront it looks like BHP has been defeated in the takeover.  Will that mean a focus of  interest by BHP in the WF lands of Ivanhoe?

I would bet that BHP and many others wished they would have laid out the cash when RF was looking for it. China saw the light and acted right away. What a huge miss for these other majors. These offers come out of the blue for us shareholders so you want to be in this stock when that NR hits the wire. Not sure what sort of deal RF would make but his partners would have to agree to it. I think BHP can come into any relationship with Ivanhoe only with the blessing of the major Chinese shareholders. The Chinese as stated saw the longterm vision for copper and actually paid a premium for their shares. Both CITIC and ZIJIN also have deep poclets and lots of cash. We all as shareholders cannot forget the fact that it was Chinese companies that allowed the developemnt to proceed in a ...more

" That may be the only way they get in, but these Chinese partners know the real score here and they need all the metals that are produced for the next 50 to 100 years. Thanks for your input Charni. I have to say though, you are certainly stating the obvious with respect to our Ivanhoe Mines Limited Chinese investors. Obviously there will be a collaborative effort with respect to the 'buy in option' and 'requisite' 'partnership' being forged with Rio Tinto and others.
