DRC

Couple of interesting video clips about the current state of the DRC:

Video 1

Video 2

Mentioned this before, but according to The World Bank, the "......DRC is among the five poorest nations in the world. In 2022, nearly 62% of Congolese, around 60 million people, lived on less than $2.15 a day. About one out of six people living in extreme poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa lives in DRC...."

The country's armed forces are also very weak and have trouble pushing back incursions into their country which are currently confined to the east and some rural areas.

Question: How long before there's an uprising where the poor in the country (who likely didn't vote in the recent election) begin demanding that the government finance needed basic infrastructure and services in the many impoverished areas of the nation where conditions are horrible for them and their children and the government decides to fund such needs via raising taxes / royalties / ownership share in foreign companies engaged in natural resource extraction in the country....?

Question: How long before you leave this board? You are a bit hard to take with all your nervous nellie C rap.

These are great questions for IVN holders. Here are some statistics to help flesh out our thinking. Numbers are rounded a little. USA values are in [ ] DRC Population 106 M. The one thing that seems to be lacking with some investors who think the IVN bull run will continue for many years to come in the DRC is logic combined with tunnel vision while ignoring what I consider glaring red lights as things stand today in the DRC.    Comparing the DRC to Canada or the USA in terms of being a good place to locate mining operations is ridiculous.   ...more

Imagine thinking anyone is going to read the ramblings of a lunatic like you.  Up your dose. Your perception of risk is stunningly inept.  You come here regularily warning us about the risks of the DRC, yet the DRC is well known in the mining community as " the place to be" with lots of majors  trying to get in and IVN has been operating for 20 years with absolute success ...more

I do believe RF said that they have been in the DRC for the past 27 years with absolutly no issues. Every country has risks but if you don't know that by now you should not be playing the market. Every stock is a gamble but the trick is to stack the odds in your favor. You do that by buying a stock like IVN. Let's just wait on the NR's ................................... they never ...more

cashtango,   Looks like it's you who has an issue with reading comprehension re. what I actually stated in my past posts on this BB.   You also seem to have difficutly either clicking on or reading links to relevant studies by reputable sources.   1) " ...the DRC is well known in the mining community as " the place to be"..."   Not ...more

Missing the point again....TKO bought that property and the project was killed by First Nations, and yes, its very dead despite the fact the company continues to call it an asset on their website. ( try reading how hard First nations fought to kill it in the supereme court)   I would say that is pretty significant social/politcal risk? Losing by far, the best asset the company held.  ...more

First ..think its been said ...not sure why were are discussing TKO here.  But the whole discourse makes me think of Benjamin Graham. "In the short run, the market is a voting machine but in the long run it is a weighing machine"   Maybe if it were 2014-15 this thread would have relevance  but we are way beyond the voting stage. Its now 2024 where ...more

Hey cash, let the lunatic ramble on. We all know the FACTS, that EVERY major mining company in the WORLD is and has been in contact with IVN in the last couple of years, ALL trying to make a deal with us in the DRC. Now you and I know and understand that they would not do that if they even for a moment thought that it would be highly risky. That guy just DOESN'T GET IT and with people like ...more

People that understand Africa and the DRC know how it operates.  IVN has been in the DRC for 20 years with nothing but support and success.   It's a different set of risks than projects you invest in.  You choose to invest in marginal assets, red tape, and weak balance sheets.  North American mining has its own set of risks.  You should know , TKO lost their most ...more

Uh-oh, only 51 weeks left to the end of 2024. IVN wins the coin toss at the beginning of the game. Congratulations. Noticed IVN issued a PR announcing the commencement of exports via the 1,289 km Lobito Atlantic Railway Corridor, so I would hope the share price would get a bump. A rail line of over 1,000 kms in the DRC - no chance of that ever being sabatoged or blockaded by the people of ...more

You remind me of a guy who posted here a few years back : Bloom Playing the game of good guy, and bad guy. With constant concern about the valuation of IVN. That it was only worth 4-5 bucks a share, at most. Then once in a while say something good to hide his bashing of IVN. Cut from the same cloth.
